CEO Takahiro Hachigo announced last month that he believes the future of Honda is in electrification. By the year 2030, he expects about 65 percent of global Honda sales to be hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric, or fuel cell vehicles.
But why specifically does Hachigo believe plug-in hybrids will be "at the core of electrification in the future"?
A plug-in gives you the carbon-free driving experience of an electric vehicle, with the freedom and fuel economy of a traditional hybrid. Unlike an all-electric vehicle, the plug-in hybrid still has a combustion engine and a fuel tank for gasoline.
