Life can throw you unexpected curve balls, and one of them may come in the form of being stranded on the road with a flat tire. If this happens, you may have to change the tire yourself. It is important to know how to change a tire and to have the necessary tools.

First of all, make sure you have a spare tire, a jack and a lug wrench and additional items like warning signs and flares. Secondly, practice at home and make sure you know how to change the tire. Loosen the lug nuts slightly before jacking up the car, then use the jack as recommended by the vehicle manual to lift the car. Remove the lug nuts and wheel, place the spare on and then the lug nuts in the proper sequence for either 4- or 5-lug wheels. Lower the car, then finish tightening the lugs in the right sequence.

If you have had a flat, be sure to come in to San Leandro Honda as soon as you are able. We will check the tire and replace if necessary, depending on the type of spare that is on the vehicle.
